Аўтар музыкі гімну — кампазытар Калікса Лявале, які напісаў яе ў 1880 на францускія вершы паэта і судзьдзі Сэра Адольфа-Базіля Руцье па замове тагачаснага лейтэнант-губэрнатара Квэбэку.
